
His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, visited the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) Command on Monday, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, was briefed by the RJAF Commander on key operational developments, combat readiness, defence capabilities, as well as modernisation and development plans.
The King toured RJAF’s Command and Control Centre, and was briefed on the work of the Air Operations Department and surveillance and tracking systems, and their role in enhancing threat response efficiency, thereby strengthening the protection of Jordan’s airspace.
His Majesty met with a number of RJAF pilots and praised their professionalism and competence in carrying out their duties and protecting the Kingdom’s airspace.
The King emphasised the importance of maintaining the highest levels of readiness and carrying out tasks efficiently and effectively, particularly in light of current regional challenges.
His Majesty also expressed pride in the efforts of Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army personnel, and their pivotal role in protecting citizens and safeguarding Jordan’s security and stability.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti accompanied His Majesty on the visit.
King Abdullah II also received a phone call on Monday from President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sanchez, and discussed the dangerous repercussions of current regional tensions.
His Majesty called for an immediate end to Iranian aggression against Jordan and a number of Arab states, and respect for the sovereignty of nations, warning of the dangers of prolonging the conflict and exacerbating the economic burden on the region and the world.
The King also warned of the danger of the situation in the region being exploited as a pretext to create new facts on the ground in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, Petra news agency reported.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Dr. Ayman Al Safadi in Doha on Monday.
The meeting discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, along with ways to resolve all disputes by peaceful means, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated his country’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks that targeted vital facilities in Jordan, and its full solidarity with and support for all measures Jordan may take to preserve its sovereignty and security.
He stressed the need to stop the unjustified Iranian attacks on Qatar and the countries of the region, warning of the consequences of irresponsible targeting of vital infrastructure, especially that related to water, food, and energy facilities.
He also stressed the need to strengthen coordination, intensify joint efforts, return to the negotiating table, and prioritise reason and wisdom to contain the crisis, in a way that ensures global energy security, freedom of navigation, environmental safety, and preserves the stability of the region.
